With this post we begin a new, occasional series in which Bayprint will shine a spotlight on other local businesses with which we have a strong relationship. For our first spotlight, I am delighted to feature Freedom Bank.
Bayprint became a Freedom Bank customer not long after the bank was founded in 2005. I’m sure that their local ownership and focus on local business customers had a lot to do with our decision to bank with Freedom Bank. The fact that they chose Bayprint to help them with their printing needs didn’t hurt, either.
Despite not having much time to establish itself before the onset of the Great Recession, Freedom Bank made it through the dark days and today thrives as a community bank with two branches in St. Petersburg and a roster of employees whose influence extends to Tampa, Sarasota, New Port Richey, and the entire metropolitan area.
Building relationships one cookie at a time
From its very early days, Freedom Bank customers have enjoyed fresh-baked cookies, which the bank serves in the lobby every day. For some customers, those cookies have made quite an impression. as President and Chief Operating Officer Susan L. Blackburn said, “It “blows me away when I tell customers that they don’t have to come to the bank because we have mobile banking and all of this technology, and I will have business owners say, ‘I know that, but I just want to come in for a cookie’.”
New logo just the beginning of a bright future
Not long ago, the bank updated its logo, but according to Blackburn and CEO Cathy P. Swanson, that is just the beginning of good things to come.
“We did change our logo. But our company also has a new culture and a vision of a future that includes profitable growth, creating exceptional client experiences, being accountable operationally, and finding our relevancy within the community that we serve. Those pillars of our strength really needed to be solidified with the new team that has come together. And so, the brand is well beyond just that fresh, new look.”
Led by a hands-on board of local business people who know the market, Freedom Bank sees a bright future ahead. Their plan is to continue to grow organically, as the market demands. That’s a plan that the bank’s investors and customers can feel good about.
